It’s funny how different spa experiences can be, isn’t it? You would think, seeing as they’re all essentially doing the same thing, that they would all be quite similar, but each spa I go to feels like an entirely new experience.
The Angsana Spa at the Vineyard Hotel is the kind of place you go to if you really need to unwind. I’m talking actual deep relaxation, that unwinds every knot your shoulder has ever known, and makes you forget you even have a cell phone, never mind whoever is calling you on it.

I was lucky enough to experience a Javanese full body massage and Avocado Almond Lustre body polish, a simply delicious 90 minute treatment (an hour for the massage and half an hour for the polish). I would say this is the perfect spa experience to treat yourself and your bride slaves to a couple of days before the wedding – it eases out any semblance of tension, and your skin is glowing and radiant from the body polish.
This was the first Javanese massage I’ve ever had, and I have to say I love it! The Angsana specially hires South East Asian therapists who have been trained at the Banyan Tree resorts (extremely luxe) so they know exactly what they’re doing. The Javanese massage is adapted from ancient Balinese techniques and is a delicious deep tissue massage. You can also choose the Waves massage, inspired by traditional Hawaiian techniques, or a Thai, Siam or Ayurvedic massage.
The spa itself is an oasis of serenity, so I’d say you probably wouldn’t have drinks with your friends afterwards (more like ginger tea and a nap!) You can easily pop upstairs to the Vineyard’s other bars, though, and they give you an extra chunk of time on each end of your treatment so there’s no rush to leave at all.
I would highly recommend the Angsana if you (or your friend!) is one of those brides who wants to do it all the week before. I did, and this massage would have sorted me out!
Until next time!
Muchlove,
Bridget
